Dominion Hills Civic Association

Dominion Hills Historic Sign Project

In October 2023, Arlington County announced the first recipients of the new Arlington County Historic Preservation Fund. Dominion Hills Civic Association was selected as one of the grantees, receiving funds to research, design, and install three historic signs around the property known as the Febrey-Lothrop property or the Rouse property, currently under development and now known as the Grove at Dominion Hills.

The signs will focus on the historical significance of those nine acres, including pre-colonial times and Native American presence, the Civil War, and the 20th century. The civic association has formed a working group to gather historic research and develop the content for the signs, and is collaborating with Toll Brothers on the location and installation of the signs.

In February 2024, the association and Toll Brothers agreed on a location for the signage, along Wilson Boulevard. A map of the location can be seen in the photo gallery below. The gallery also contains examples of photos and maps the sign working group has explored along their learning journey.

Stories like the ones that will be told on the signs can be found at the Arlington Historical Society's website.

Updates on the project will be announced via the Civic Association newsletter, Facebook page, and this website.
